Manic White Magic

Healer finally made it into the Hero's party!  The only problem is that it's completely dysfunctional!  Hero is obsessed with fighting the boss, no matter what, Rogue only want to rack up a big body count, and Mage is only paying attention to casting their spells (in a VERY specific order)!

As Healer, it's your job to keep these idiots alive long enough to win the day.  You have the ability to heal, of course, but you can also Rescue your allies, dragging them to you, as well as Revive them if they die.  Finally, you can forcibly Rally them to attack as one!

The Evil Cyclops will try to stop you, with his endless army of Gnolls and Orcs.  The Cyclops will also throw boulders at your party, and attack them with a big laser eye!

How to Play:

Use WASD to move.

Press TAB to switch targeting between your party members.

Press 1 to heal the target for 5 hp.

Press 2 to cast Rescue, bringing that hero to you.

Press 3 to Revive, can only be cast on a dead hero.

Press 4 to Rally, making all heroes attack the same target that the targeted hero is attacking.

You win when the Cyclops dies.  Can you keep the Hero's Party alive?

Manic White Magic was made as part of the 2023 GMTK Game Jam.  The theme of this game jam is "Roles Reversed".  Our interpretation in this game is basically to put you at the helm of the support character instead of any of the classic offensive characters.  The idea is that the majority of single player action RPGs, especially those with AI, do not make support the thing you want to play.  Instead, it focuses on putting you in the shoes of the hero, or at least some sort of offensive character.  We wanted to make it so that you had no offensive abilities, and had to rely on your very stupid teammates to actually win the battle.
